  • Damietta Governorate was awarded the UNESCO Learning Cities Award for 2021.

  • Membership in the General Assembly of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Committee (COPPEM). 

  • Collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) on the 'Decent Jobs for Egypt's Youth' project.

Awards

  • Prof. Manal Awad, former Minister of Local Development and Governor of Damietta, was selected as one of the top 50 most influential women of 2018 by the 'Fifty Forum' for her successful contributions in the field of local economic development in January 2019. This recognition was based on a report prepared by the forum in partnership with the specialized economic magazine 'Amwal Al Ghad,' relying on a set of professional criteria aligned with established ranking standards for selection.

  • Prof. Manal Awad, former Minister of Local Development and former Governor of Damietta, was selected as one of the most inspiring women leaders in the Arab world through the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). 

  • Awarded the Shield of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology for selecting Damietta Governorate as the Innovation Capital for 2018 during the closing ceremony of the Fourth Cairo International Innovation Exhibition in November 2018. 

  • Awarded the Shield of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in recognition of Damietta Governorate achieving the best indicators in international cooperation in 2019. 

  • Recipient of the Government Excellence Award for Ras El Bar City in 2019.

  • Damietta Governorate received four awards in the second round of the Government Excellence Award for Ras El Bar City, the local unit of El Sha’ra Village, the Social Rehabilitation Office in Kafr Saad, and the Social Rehabilitation Office in Zarqa. 

  • In June 2019, Damietta City was officially granted membership in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities. 

  • The Directorate of Education in Damietta and Nile Egyptian School were awarded first place in the International School Award competitions for the 2020-2023 period. 

  • Damietta Governorate was awarded the UNESCO Learning Cities Award for 2021, selected as one of ten cities worldwide by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, based on the recommendation of an independent panel of international experts.

  • Damietta Governorate was honored for achieving second place in the category of Best Decision Support Studies. 

  • In 2023, Damietta Governorate received three awards in the Government Excellence Competition, recognizing outstanding institutional performance in Ras El Bar, Damietta, and Public Relations in Ras El Bar City.

  • In 2023, Damietta Governorate secured top positions in the sub-indicator for innovative services for citizens and investors, as well as the sub-indicator for green innovation, at the Egypt Innovation Capital Award for 2022.

  • The Governor of Damietta was recognized as one of the most inspiring women leaders in the Arab world through the dialogue launched by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme under the slogan 'Women in Leadership'.

  • The Governor of Damietta was honored by the National Research Centre during her participation in the workshop on 'The Scientific Role of Women in Addressing the Adverse Impacts of Climate Change'.

  • Prof. Manal Awad, former Minister of Local Development and Governor of Damietta, was recognized as one of the Top 10 Outstanding Women for her distinguished role in advancing the 'Building a Stronger Egypt' strategy during an official ceremony hosted by the Embassies of Sweden and Canada. 

  • The 'Maritime Fishing Port Project in Ezbet El-Borg City' secured third place in the Large Projects category of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects. 

  • Damietta Governorate was honored for securing fifth place in the category of Documenting National Projects through Photography. 

  • Damietta Governor, Prof. Ayman El-Shehaby, participated in the 25th Middle East International Power Systems Conference (MEPCON 2025), organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Shoubra.

  • Prof. Ayman El-Shehaby, Governor of Damietta, participated in the 6th International Conference on Learning Cities, organized by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, under the theme "Learning Cities at the Forefront of Climate Action", held in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
