“Our Heritage” Exhibition for Handicrafts and Heritage

Our Heritage Exhibition is considered the largest annual event organized in Egypt, bringing together craftsmen and skilled people specialized in handicrafts and heritage industries, from all governorates of the Republic with their cultural and civilizational diversity, in order to display thousands of diverse and unique artistic pieces inspired by the ancient Egyptian heritage, including accessories, antiques, textiles, decorations, and crafts with beauty and sophistication Inspired by heritage in a modern way, to suit all tastes. Our Heritage Exhibition achieves the state's vision to support and localize industries and open new marketing horizons for products.
Within the framework of the governorate's plan to cooperate with various parties to support the furniture industry and provide new opportunities for makers, the city of Damietta participates annually in the exhibition by displaying distinguished products by furniture makers in Damietta that are distinguished by their ability to compete in local and international markets as well.

Made in Damietta Exhibitions

A series of Made in Damietta exhibitions were launched in 2016 in partnership with the Project Development Authority with the aim of opening new marketing horizons for the products of small makers of Damietta furniture, highlighting their role and crowning their products, as well as stimulating commercial activity in the governorate, bringing the total number of courses implemented in it to 23 courses until December 2024, during which more than 1000 exhibitors participated. The exhibition, in its previous twentieth sessions, achieved a sales volume exceeding 189 million pounds, and the exhibition is always witnessed Great demand from the public who praise the quality of Damietta products.

Egypt Hands Exhibition for Handicrafts and Heritage

The exhibition comes in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to support medium, small and micro industries. It is also part of a series of initiatives implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The exhibition is held in many Egyptian governorates to create and provide new marketing horizons for handicrafts and heritage products. Damietta Governorate is keen to participate in it due to its distinction in many creative and heritage crafts. In November 2024, Damietta received a certificate of appreciation from the New Valley Governorate and the Ministries of Industry and Agriculture after the participation of Damietta women in the "Egypt's Hands Abroad in the New Valley" exhibition, which included a large number of handicrafts and heritage and Damietta products. The governorate's pavilion witnessed the inspection of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister and Minister of Local Development They praised the quality of the displayed products, which reflected the unique and distinguished skill of the participating women.
It is noteworthy that the women participating in the exhibition received a number of trainings in the women-friendly city that was established in cooperation between the governorate and the National Council for Women and with funding from UN WOMEN. These trainings, which came to develop women's skills in handicrafts, heritage and marketing fields, contributed to creating female entrepreneurs and supporting the goals of women's economic empowerment Therefore, the city won the UNESCO Learning Cities Award for the year 2021 and also second place among the models of successful open public spaces in Egypt in the Local Impact Program of the World Urban Forum hosted by Egypt 2024.
The "Hands of Egypt" platform is considered one of the most important initiatives launched by the Ministry of Local Development in March 2021 to market handicrafts and heritage, in partnership with the United Nations World Food Program "WFP" and the company E-Aswaq Egypt "E-Aswaq Misr", affiliated with the E-Finance Group It is characterized by direct communication with customers and the platform facilitates buying and selling operations between craftsmen and customers, as well as promoting handicrafts and heritage that contribute to preserving the Egyptian heritage and developing craft industries, as well as providing technical support and training to improve quality and design and reach global markets. It targets craftsmen who work in handicrafts such as textiles, pottery, embroidery, wood, and metal crafts.
