Damietta has a uniquely distinguished geographical location that is rarely found anywhere else in the world, as it overlooks the sea, the river, and the lake. Damietta Governorate is located south the Nile Delta, about 15 km from where the river meets the Mediterranean Sea. The Nile River (the Damietta branch) divides it into two parts. To the north it is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, to the east by Lake Manzala, and to the south and west stretch the farms and plains of the Delta.
